A former friend sent me this book while I was going through a separation and divorce from my cheating ex-wife.  Ultimately it was cathartic at the time, occasionally reading it on those occasions I chose to drink and found myself laughing out loud about Tucker Max's stories.  I read about two-thirds of the book but it ceased amusing me about 60% of the way through.

I recently re-read the whole thing.  Minutes afterward I threw it into the recycling bin.

I was once described as being SlingBlade by said friend, which I take as a high compliment.  But, I cannot recommend this book to anyone, without guilt.  Tucker Max admits he's an asshole, and this book proves that he is.  I don't find him to have any redeeming qualities other than a) he claims all these stories are true and b) he's arguably amusing at times, but everything from his venacular to his writing style made getting through this book a triumph only in the sense that I read it through to the end.

I cannot recommend this book though it was recommended to me.  I'm not the kind of person who can endorse this behavior, even if it is amusing.  I grew up around too many assholes whose behaviors have probably led to way too many issues leaving destruction in their wake.  We all have known these types of jerks, even if we at one point idolized them for whatever reason.

I won't tell you not to read it.  And I'm not proud to have laughed out loud at certain parts.
