i’ll give this one 2.5 stars because i feel conflicted. i think my biggest issue with this book is that it made no sense for elle to agree to fake-date darcy!!! she would get literally nothing out of it, and risked ruining her new business deal with brendan. the author never made a good argument for elle agreeing to it. anyway, the first third of this book was hard to get through because of the writing style, and i almost gave up. then it got really good about halfway through, but then it just ended so abruptly right after the main conflict was introduced. i do feel like there wasn’t enough time to really let the enemies to lovers trope play out, and elle and darcy fell for each other too fast. it was only a few weeks after they started fake-dating that they got really serious. i really liked each character, but ultimately the book lost me.
