The Rule of Many by Leslie Saunders, Ashley Saunders

2.0

#readingchallenge2020 (an add on to my book that begins with R)

A follow-up to Rule of One, the authors dove right in where the story left off. Presenting YA elements of immediate action, danger, and suspense, they set a good pace to move the story along.

Pros: Their writing style in this novel showed a stronger attempt, than what was in the first, to develop the characters-fleshing out character’s backstories through internal thoughts throughout the action.

Cons: Overall, my issue still stands with the lack of clarity within the ‘world building’ aspects. Adding characters, going back and forth, adding development, was great, but the overall premise was still unclear, so nothing cohesively came together…it seemed there were a few different objectives-it was hard to follow who was on what side-and the motivations grew more far-fetched

i.e The US is being taken over by Texas? And Canada is involved?
