Immortal Dark

Okay where to begin.. this book had me confused for the first half, and still a bit confused for the second half, but thoroughly hooked anyway.
The story is complex, the magic system a bit vague (I felt it could have been explained better), and I had whiplash from the to and fro'ing between the FMC and MMC. Despite that, I still couldn't put it down as I HAD TO KNOW! I wanted redemption for the characters, I wanted the love story I knew was there, and I continued on in search of it.
The MMC could be delicious, except we spend too much time being unsure if he's the bad guy or the good guy, he walks that line like a tightrope. If you enjoy the enemies to lovers trope, this definitely falls into that category.
The suspense and mystery of the plot is the most intriguing part of this book, playing detective and trying to piece together the clues, aswell as trying to separate the FMCs own demons from those of the people around her.
I read this not realizing there is another book coming, so the ending caught me out (I should research better before starting a book). I will definitely be reading the second book, cause I still need to know what happens, and it all feels too unresolved currently to let this lie.
