Lonestar Sanctuary
by Colleen Coble
This is a romance/predictable mystery set in contemporary Texas. Allie is a single mother who has to flee El Paso due to a stalker who killed her sister. She goes to a rural area youth ranch with her daughter Betsy. Rick (who works at the ranch) is her late husband's friend. Her grandfather also owns the ranch.
The coincidence of Rick working at Allie's grandfather's ranch was never explained. The romance was very quick, all the sudden Rick & Allie were married? Also figured out that Charlie was the killer. I didn't know Charlie's motive but it was weird that the story kept including him when he didn't have much of a role in either Allie or Rick's lives.
The redeeming part of this book was the descriptions of the horses and back stories of the kids at the youth ranch.
