This third installment was missing the charm of the townspeople and the structure of plot advancement that made the first two books compelling. There was also significantly less humor in every aspect of the story, which is what I’ve loved in the other books. 

It felt like the story could have been taking place anywhere rather than the distinct Mystic Bayou vibes.
