Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

4.0

Interesting structure. This book is told through a series of vignettes. Each chapter tells the story individually of 3 women who are interconnected. One the daughter, another the mother and a third who is connected in a more peripheral way. Each woman is English but from the African diaspora and are trying in various ways to deal with their identity as both a woman and as an British citizen of African heritage. The chapters dip in and out of one another as well with each woman having links to other chapters. It is like a ballet.
