Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman

This book is everything wrong with YA. Not a lot in this book is original; from the storytelling to the characters to the plot itself. It's all one big color-by-number book of tropes meant to create something pretty and nice to look at. But all of the characters fit into pretty clean stereotypes (golden boy, the hot one, tomboy, stoic, computer, comic relief, and chosen one), the plot is simple and basic, and everything lacks depth.

I suppose the only good thing about this book is it's something fun to read if you need your mind to drift, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. But even so, this book is nothing special.
