I was drawn to this as a big fan of Janelle Monáe and was intrigued by the world stemming from Dirty Computer. I was interested in finishing the book to understand the context and taking it in as part of that world she had built. If Janelle Monáe wasn’t behind this, I may not have maintained interest long enough to finish it out. I liked the variety between the short stories and the ways in which they all fit together in the larger world of the album and associated concepts.
