This book packs some absolutely mega emotional punches. I cried three times reading this book and as I’m writing this review, my tears are still drying on my cheeks. It’s gorgeous. The prose is not like anything I’ve read before - beautiful imagery but coupled with fast paced sentences, like a very well-written journal. I adored how time moved and how each character was shaped around Eva’s perspective. The overarching narrative about motherhood was wonderful as it explored all of the complexities of female relationships and the way they often revolve around mothering, even if they’re not ‘official’ mothers. Everything also felt completely Real, as if I was really reading about someone’s life. Eva is a complex, imperfect but wonderful narrator. I’ll definitely be reading this again. I’ll definitely be reading this again.
