Wooooah.
I’ve been a fan of Pam Godwin’s work ever since reading Sea of Ruin. Her writing is definitely on the dark side of romance and if that’s your preferred genre, this book will 100% deliver. It’s a story about the power of true love and the insurmountable obstacles that it can overcome.
It’s probably the most emotionally devastating and difficult book I’ve read. Our FMC, Conor goes through the most agonizing tragedy and with Pam’s writing being as incredible as it is, it’s gut wrenching to read. But at the same time the healing that happens between the characters is so deeply beautiful.
I adored Conor and Jake. Their relationship and the road that it takes left my heart in ruins for them and the journey they embark on together in search of healing was everything that it needed to be. Jake is just such a devastatingly perfect MMC. The way he’s willing to shred his soul to pieces to protect her and help her fight her demons is everything.
Side note; there’s one particular scene that happens, page 192 on my kindle…and IYKYK. It was PERFECTION. I had to stop reading and text my best friend because I was so emotionally invested and completely undone that I had to talk about it with someone who would understand lol.
All in all, Pam has once again blown me away with her ability to draw me into the story. The writing is impeccable, the story line is beautifully twisted and her characters are perfection. Go and read this ASAP!
