At Dusk by Jennifer Snyder

3.0

It was OK. The worldbuilding is lacking, though. Why can Holly kill Marcus without a problem, but not Ethan? The council members don't seem to have the same problem. Or is it that they can kill Holly because she killed an innocent vampire? Or is it that only vampire council members can punish rogue wolves? How does the magic behind the marks work? Is it a different color for different crimes? or a different shape? Everyone looks at the mark (a crimson crescent) and immediately knows she killed a vampire. But it's never explained. Also, we know absolutely nothing about vampire society. Sure, we're told there are nests, but there's also the council (which we don't know it even exists until the end of chapter 16). Do the nests have a leader? Who is the leader of the council? What role do the witches play in all this? And still I have more questions that got unanswered, I just got tired of writing them down.
