Nova, a single gal who works in landscape construction, is also a foster mom. She usually takes in teens but was asked to take in a 9 and 7 year old sibling duo. The drama that comes with these two kids, supervised visits with their dad and obvious signs of abuse is captivating. You watch Nova fall in love with these kids and understands what her adoptive parents went through when she was adjusting. These kids crack Nova wide open and Nova cracks the little boy as well. There is a little “oh shit” moment in the last 20% of the book. While this won’t win any awards, it was an enjoyable read with a lot of character development for all characters involved!
