OH. okay so i got this as a gift and i was expecting it to provide interesting information but be fundamentally boring to read and i was Wrong. this is so much better than i expected. it is not direct. it is not succinct. it is not really about what it says it is about. this is just an academic with a wonderful literary voice going on a series of seemingly unrelated tangents that fascinated and excited me. this book is making me want to abandon my dreams and go study classics. this book is single-handedly saving my latin essay due next week. i wasn't sure when i started - it takes a few chapters to get it together - but OH HO HO. i want to live inside irene vallejo's mind.
