Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

4.0

I truly enjoyed this book. I first heard of Trevor Noah as a comedian and thought that this would be a fun read. While it was both fun and funny, there was a lesson. His description of growing up in apartheid and then afterwards opened my eyes to a worldview unlike anything I have known or considered. He shows the desperation that women have when being a victim of domestic abuse. There are so many unfair and inhumane practices that occur. Still, he relayed a serious side with interest and intelligence that kept me fully engaged.
