Sadie by Courtney Summers

4.0

This entire book, even though it’s centered around a mystery, hurt my whole heart. The subject matter was gut wrenching and the way Courtney Summers handles this triggering topic without any explicit scenes was executed very well. Throughout this entire story you wanted Sadie to be alright in the end, no matter how unlikely that was. The mystery was a strong part of this book but in my reading experience it almost took a backseat to Sadie’s story seeking revenge to her abuser and her sister’s murderer. This is not something I’m complaining about, this portion of the book just really got my attention even though the podcast parts flew by. By the time I got to the last page I just felt emotionally drained and completely empty.
