I love that this story added depth to one of the most memorable characters of the series. There were a lot of shocking/suspenseful moments that kept me engaged and wanting to read more. However, it felt like there was too much buildup before the Hunger Games even started and then the action started moving too fast and at times became repetitive in format (ex: the use of different types of mutts, deaths of tributes). I also thought there were way too many song lyrics, especially at the end when I was impatient for the loose ends to be wrapped up. Also, I thought Lenore’s death was not believable enough. <\spoiler> Overall though, I think this was a good addition to the series.
Graphic: Child death, Death, Gore, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Animal death, Suicidal thoughts, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Suicide
