Rose Madder
by Stephen King
This book was totally not what I expected. Instead of a horror like Carrie, which was the first book of Stephen King I read, this gave my levels of anxiety that I couldn't imagine.
This story is chillingly real, even when it enters to dreamscapes. The abuse and violence depicted is so painfully relatable that whenever a Norman chapter came, my blood felt cold and my stomach twisted, afraid of what he was going to do. Rosie is a likeable and relatable MC and I loved cheering for her during the harships she endured.
This is a reading I'd recommend to lovers of this genre, but take it lightly and be aware of the TW that you can find. I can totally see this being a very upset reading for people with certain life experiences.
