Ain't He Precious? by Juliette Poe, Sawyer Bennett

3.5 out of 5 stars

What more can I say about this, other than it was fun fast read. Sawyer Bennett delivers a sticky sweet story, about second chance love, using pen name Juliett Poe. This short book/novella has a lot jammed into it for a mere 81 pages.

The storry covers all the sweet spots that a typical romance novella has. An independent smart female lead. Matched by an equally handsome, male lead. The story touches on loneliness, lost opportunity, renewed hope, a sexually charged, awkward reunion of sorts, and their amazing chemistry, and finally that HEA we all want in a book. I liked that the main characters were older, and wiser. Nice for a change, instead of them being in their early 20’s. It would have been interesting to see a little bit more character development, and perhaps a little more depth. I found myself, like others, wishing for a little bit more….I don’t know..more. If you want just cute as hell second chance love story, this book is for you.

As far as the Sawyer Bennett of it all…..If you have read enough Sawyer Bennett, she has a certain feel with the flow of her words. It’s there with Ain’t He Precious, but it’s not. It’s very PG-13. There is nothing wrong with that. I think I would’ve had a different take away from this book, if I hadn’t known it was Sawyer writing it. That being said, I am looking forward to see what happens with the next installment of the Sex and Sweet Tea series.
