Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
3.5

I’m kinda sad I didn’t feel very connected to the characters for most of the story. They felt very generic and more so defined by the things happening or that have happened to them rather than their personalities. However, once I sat down and finished, I did get invested in the last 25% and felt like both of them really grew into their own, functional selves as individuals. One of my issues for most of the book was it seemed like there was nothing about Justin other than his feelings for Emma. Like everything in his life had to go through a lens where she was considered, which felt more damaging to his character setup than romantic. It’s been a while since I read the first book, so the plot twist really stunned me. And I’m a sucker for all the people coming together at the end.
