May the Moon Shine Upon Camlann by Verse Atoui

5.0

ok but this was so delightful?? i have to say when i started reading it, i didn’t think i would end up loving it so much. i thought the tone of the writing was weird at first. i like lyrical writing and it definitely wasn’t that. but it turned out fitting for this story, it was funny and at times magical.

may the moon shine upon camlann feels like such a random story with no real world-building, but turns out it’s what makes it so touching.

i enjoyed the mentions of the welsh origins of the arthurian legends, the twists in the popular lore and theseus’s boat metaphor.

this short little story is surprisingly rich in culture and diversity and gave me slow burn found family vibes that by the end of it made me hold the book in my arms like i wanted to hold these characters.

tbh the formatting of the paperback is a bit off, and i do think this story could benefit from some professional editing, but does it really matter when in the end it made me slowly but surely, absolutely fall in love with it…
