Ushers by Joe Hill

dark mysterious reflective medium-paced

4.0

Ushers definitely packs a lot into such a short story, and I ended up really enjoying it. It felt a lot like a creepypasta, which I used to absolutely love, so it felt nostalgic in a way! It is super easy to read, but at the same time, it manages to be thoughtful and reflective. The way it makes you think about life and death adds an unexpected depth.

What stood out the most to me was how engaging and well-written the characters were. It is not easy to create characters with depth in just 29 pages, but Joe Hill did it fantastically.
