Edward is definitely on the autism spectrum and I'm here for it! Georgiana is such a sweetheart. I especially love how determined she is to make the best out of her situation and that she wants to prove that she can be a great duchess. However, having recently read Pride and Prejudice I couldn't help noticing the many similarities. Georgiana has many sisters, she enjoys walking and the second oldest sister has a tendre for the hero's bestie. Hmmm... sounds familiar. Oh, what is that? The hero comes across as unfeeling and aloof but is secretly passionate/ardently admires the heroine? Hmmm...sounds familiar.
There are many similarities between these characters and Jane Austen's characters but this did not disturb me too much since the plot wasn't all that similar. In comparison to other historical romances, the writing feels more ancient in the sense that this doesn't necessarily feel like it was written in the 21st century. The way the characters interacted made it feel like this book could've easily been written 200 years ago. Also, I thought it interesting how many refercences to (then) current events were made. Obviously, the characters would be talking about the ongoing political events in the same way we casually mention the pandemic. I felt like that was really unique to this author (of modern HR).
