A gorgeously illustrated graphic novel about a young girl's sexual coming-of-age, this is the first book in a trilogy that the author has written about her mother. Using trees and flowers euphemistically to illustrate a young woman blossoming into womanhood, this isn't just a wonderful story with an exquisite main character, it's a great book to give pre-adolescent girls as they're starting to discover changes in themselves. My daughter has read the entire trilogy. After reading this first one, I'm eager to catch up with her.
