Up to the ending I enjoyed this book on a 4-stars level. It has amusing dialogues between Jackaby and Abigail, it features dinosaur bones, enticing new (and old...) creatures and a fun new character named Nellie who is a fierce young reporter but THEN during the grand finale

not only Nellie is killed (the only other female character next to Abigail, not counting Jenny, a ghost) but also the chameleomorph dragon creature. Seriously? They couldn't have thought of any other way to protect the world from this wannabe-dragon? Like, for example, feed it something else, so it turns into a less dangerous creature like they did with the other chameleomorphs?

I'm so angry right now! But I'm still curious about the next book because at the end of this one we're finally starting to learn more about Jenny's past and this series really needs more of an overarching story arc.
