What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami

3.0

This book correctly brings out how running is philosophically a much different, introspectional physical activity as compared to other competitive sports. Those who run will resonate with author's words on the psychology developed and carried by those who push themselves while running. Being autobiographical, it is inspirational, particularly considering that the author (well known for his large array of literary works) passionately and regularly devote a fixed amount of time for running. He was never a professional athlete, nor someone who was into it right from childhood. I like running and was looking forward to reading it. I just wished it was more insightful into the challenges and his take on them. It could have been that in certain places instead of turning out to be more of a documentation/diary of his running career, given that it's titled "what he means when he talks about running".
