Some parts were genuinely intriguing, and I was really engaged in solving the mystery and coming up with theories; which is exactly what I look for in a thriller. But I have to say, I wasn’t a fan of the conclusion, mainly because of its execution. Something about it just didn’t work for me. I really appreciate it when authors—especially in thrillers—give their readers some credits and don’t spell everything out, but in this case, things felt SO obvious that I was genuinely hoping it was all just a huge misdirect.
I also realized I’m not a fan of romance in thrillers—especially when my Sims have more chemistry than these two ever did. Robert gave off extreme icky, alpha male energy—which, ew. And Gwen… well, let’s just say sis ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed 💀
Overall, it’s a quick and really engaging read with decent pacing. However, the predictability of the ending, occasional insensitivity toward certain topics, and some questionable character choices sadly kept me from giving it a higher rating.
