While this book is still good and a crucial part of Kase’s and Malin’s story, it did suffer from middle book syndrome.
So in the first book, at the end, Kase has his memories “altered”, so in this book he is struggling in a new reality that doesn’t feel right. And that’s fine, that’s cool, I get that, you can’t just give his memories back after all of the stuff they went through quickly. But it took close to 70% of the book for it to finally really get going. Meaning, I was so bored the entire book until then. There wasn’t much action, just a lot of talking and reminiscing and trying to help Kase remember who he is/was.
I still like the book and will never skip it, but this is my least favorite in this series so far. Until that ending!!!! Omfg, I am now so excited for the next book that I ordered it immediately after finishing so I can start it as soon as it gets here.
