Zoe's Tale
by John Scalzi
Outstanding retelling of The Last Colony from the point of view of Zoe Boutin-Perry, adopted daughter of the main characters of that story, John Perry and Jane Sagan. Another well crafted tale from John Scalzi; solid, fleshed out characters, superbly paced, tight storyline, and thoughtful message. Scalzi's book are always a very nice change from the shoot 'em up/save the princess/be macho/space battle sci-fi that dominates the genre. Absolutely on of the greats to be named in the same breath as Asimov, Heinlein, Dick, et al.
