I really didn't enjoy reading this book at all. It was a struggle for me to keep going, hoping that something interesting would happen. The book promised a grand war where Frances had to choose between her fellow witches and the love of her life, but it was all very underwhelming. For almost 80% of the book, nothing significant really happened, and then the war was over in a snap, followed by a predictable "happily ever after" ending that we all know won't last because there's a second book, but I have no plans of reading it. To me, it was a decent book at best, nothing more. I had such high expectations for this book, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. Maybe if the book was presented as the witches doing witchy things, I would have enjoyed it more. But even then, it still doesn't add up.
