It's hard to put into words why I love this book so much, but I'll try.
The book follows two characters. Yumi, who is someone special, chosen by her people who lives in a more stereotypical fantasy world. Nikaro, or as he is referenced more often in the book Painter, is a self-proclaimed chosen warrior of a more steam-punk society. Both stubborn in their own way. They get linked and chaos and shenanigans ensue.
I think the reason I love this book so much is because the majority of it focuses on human feelings, emotions and the connections we make. Though there is still some action, especially by the end, that is not the main point of the plot, it's to dive into humanity and it uses the fantasy aspects to accentuate it.
This book made me laugh, it made me cry and it left my jaw on the floor, a few times!
