I only finished this book as it’s my current book club read and I wanted to have a fully-informed opinion but, boy, was it a hard slog. I found the plot difficult to locate within the language, which was heavy on metaphor making it tricky to penetrate. There were occasional flashes of language that I enjoyed but the majority left me cold, as did the characters. I didn’t find them or their setup particularly believable or indeed interesting - I struggled to find anything to care about in this book and I’m left wondering what the point of it really was.
