Book #23 read in 2024

Wow. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I usually tend to shy away from historical fiction because they are heavy reads. I am so glad I didn't listen to my instincts on this one. Martha Ballard was an amazing, strong, inspirational woman turned character in this impeccable version of history. The mystery involving the alleged rape and subsequent murder kept me riveted. Taking on powerful men, the women in this novel were definitely a force to be reckoned with and truly before their time. I found myself researching Martha Ballard after listening to the authors note at the end. Jane Oppenheimer's narration was suburb, really giving life to the characters. This would be a great book club selection as well. I think this book will be with me for awhile. Definite must read!
