I really liked this book! The writing is very matter-of-fact and the story moves at a good clip. I didn't find it gross at all, but I have a strong stomach. Someone more squeamish may have trouble getting through this book. It's not great literature, but it's a solid pick for those who enjoy body horror or infection stories.
