Think Like a Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day by Jay Shetty

I am probably not mature enough for this book, but a lot of the advice given in it felt counterproductive.

While this book talks about practicing mindfulness, I pride myself on practicing "midlessness" - focusing on an audiobook or a project and ignoring everything around you - not paying attention to people's faces, or the temperature, and walking on automatic. Similarly, I try to eliminate household chores and other boring tasks to the largest extent possible. This allows for deep focus on what really matters and more time for things I value, rather than "enjoying washing dishes" or showering in a mud pit.

In addition, while the book quoted scientific evidence, it often was cherry-picked or not conclusive. For example, there was a mention of 1/9 people going hungry but didn't mention that that number has decreased by 300% in the last 50 years alone. Rather, I would recommend you read Factfulness, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, Humankind or Doing Good Better - these books would provide a more accurate overview of the current state of the world
