I wanted to like this book - but I didn’t at all. Ikigai is best interpreted as a reason for being, so I expected the book to be about finding your purpose. Instead, that was 1/10 of the book with another 9/10 about longevity - health, community, exercise, etc. The authors jumped quickly through surface-level topics, making quick comparisons (ikigai to logotherapy; confucianism to stoicism) that felt surface level at best. Claims like “fast 2 days a week” had no scientific backing
