Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel

challenging dark reflective slow-paced

5.0

Bechdel simultaneously draws you in to punch you in the gut with beautiful chapter endings, and seems to be satisfied with keeping you at arms length during unnecessarily complex contemplations that leave you utterly confused. Especially if you aren't familiar with Greek mythology or the works of James Joyce. But definetly worth trying to grasp.

Reading full chapters in one go is an absolute must (if you are a slow reader like me and usually take lots of breaks - and thus need this kind of a note).

Also knowing that this is a think-piece memoir and not a who-done-it with a satisfying answer is key to setting your expectations.
