‘Fate is always weaving its threads, Dante. We just don’t see them until our eyes open.’
Tropes:
~childhood lovers
~Soulmates
~forbidden romance
~second chance
~age gap
~she falls first
~he falls harder
~friends to lovers
The Plot:
This story follows Dante and Amara who we met during the first two books. Dante discovers information that shatters his reality and forces him to trigger a lethal game. Amara has loved Dante ever since she was a young child, she gets abducted and tortured for information to which she loses herself, her life and her home. Mysteries are unravelled. Secrets are discovered.
My thoughts:
I loved this book, I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t still following Tristan and Morana as I feel we still have a lot more questions about them such as where is Tristan’s sister? But I did love getting a better understanding of Amara and her trauma. Dante and Amara are meant to be together and so much just keeps happening to them, I just want them to have a beautiful life together.
Writing/pace:
I read this book in 24hours, it was fast paced which helped to keep me hooked in. It shows Amara and Dante over the years they’ve known each other which I thought really created a bigger picture on their lives together. I honestly can’t fault how this book was written.
Characters:
Dante Maroni:
Oh my heart hurts for Dante in this book as he finds out more information about his mother. He’s constantly given so many challenges to deal with that are gut wrenching.
Amara:
Amara is honestly such a strong woman for being able to carry on after everything she goes through and is still going through. There was such a twist at the end of the book which I did not see coming but i think it made her stronger being able to stand up to someone that created a lot of her problems.
Favourite quotes:
~“I will kiss you and brand myself upon your heart, Amara,” he told her quietly. “Just make sure you’re ready for me to.”~
~“You’re the queen on the board, Amara. You’re my most powerful piece, but my most vulnerable. They get you, they get me, and the game is over. So, I’ll do whatever I need to make sure they never get you. Even if that means hiding you like my dirty little secret for the time being.”~
