A very likeable lead pair, and a well told mystery. The climactic confrontation with the viallain was genuinely tense, but what I liked most about this book was the unusual balance it struck. Historical mystery/romances with assertive female leads often end up being simply anachronisms, putting 21st century characters in 'period' settings. Amelie really felt right for the time - neither a Victorian dormouse, nor a time traveller from our days. Well done!
