I read this book not realizing this story was based on an actual woman who was midwife to over 1000 births and never lost a mother. Pretty incredible. The story was interesting, charming, sometimes predictable, sometimes happy or sad. At times I felt the choices made were a bit overly happy or things all worked themselves out, but honestly I would write a happy ending as well. It was an enjoyable read (I listened to it and enjoyed the narration).
