I was really keen to read this one, but it turned out to be an airport read. Little substance, cardboard cutouts for characters (especially the women), but at least the second half read quick (I was skimming by the end). Only giving a star for the unique design of the vampires, but I'll probably not bother with the rest of the series. It's clear that from the way it's written, it was written with a possible movie adaptation in mind. Not always the best way to write a book, but some exceptions do manage to pull it off. Hopefully the tv show is a little better.
