The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

3.5-3.7/5
this was a good short book

the meaning of this book was interesting especially when learning a little abt the authors life and getting to understand more abt the background of the book

the themes of this book were interesting too (particularly alienation, identity, compassion, sympathy,etc...) e.g. how sympathy can wear thin even to those you love and the contrast of mind and body as his mind remained his while his body changed which changed his familys view of him as much as they liked him before

the symbols were another way this was showed through the food. an example was that the sister started by giving gregor milk and stuff because that was what he liked and noticed he didnt enjoy it so she..and and the end she quickly gave some food to him without much thought

the book was simple to read but the meaning and themes are quite compelling and complex

but it was also quite slow because it goes through every detail (which could have been the point)
