Consider This: Charlotte Mason and the Classical Tradition by Karen Glass

4.0

If you are interested in Charlotte Mason, classical education, homeschooling, or just education in general then read this book. It’s a synthetic approach to learning what classical education actually was (vs. the modern interpretation of it) and how Charlotte Mason used it to educate her students and teachers. We need to not simply replicate what the classical educators were doing but think about why they did what they did and how we can achieve the same goals in our modern setting. It’s not simply about learning Latin and studying grammar, logic, and rhetoric. It is a whole approach to learning that involves absolute truth, virtue, and learning as a lifestyle. This book has given me a much greater understanding of Charlotte Mason and the classical tradition her educational principles spring from.
