Mothers and Other Liars
by Amy Bourret
The most exciting thing about this book is the synopsis on the back cover. After losing her Grandmother, her last remaining family member, Ruby Leander is lost. Driving aimlessly, she stops at a gas station where she finds an abandoned baby and makes a decision that changes the course of her life forever. Nine years later, Ruby comes across an ad in the paper. Two parents are searching for their stolen baby and the baby's age adjusted photograph looks just like her daughter Lark.
Sounds intriguing, right? Hence the reason I bought the book. However, the author draaaaaaaaags out the introduction of characters. Blah blah blah blah *Ruby takes the baby at the gas station* blah blah blah *Ruby find an article in the paper* blah blah blah *Ruby has to make a decision no mother should ever have to make* blah blah blah *unbelievable ending, not the I-will-never-forget-this-book kind of unbelievable but the you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me kind* blah blah blah...288 pages people. The book lacked upmh. Heart. Descriptive language. Disappointing read.
