Moon Over Soho
by Ben Aaronovitch
I gave the first book in this series 5 stars, however the second only 4 stars. This is because a lot of the questions in the first book have not been answered, instead there are more questions left in the second. Now I am fine with cliff-hangers / building back information over a series ark, but not to the extent that it leaves a book incomplete. The questions of the rules of this arc, the lack of detailed history, the incomplete questions about why Peter has magic makes the world become less believable than the first book, however the writing style, familiarity with London and the combination of comedy and gross still grants a great read. However the inadequacies and quirks of Peter in book 1 are starting to become annoying in book 2. I hope book 3 starts to answer some of these questions, builds so basic knowledge and shows a development in Peter. I love the added magic to a crime series, boot it still needs to make sense from a police procedural point of view to make me believe going forward.
