My Sister's Big Fat Indian Wedding
by Sajni Patel
This was such a fun, vibrant, exciting book! From the cute romance to the beautiful descriptions of everything going on, it was such a fun read!
This book is a cute rom-com about a big, Indian wedding, a music contest, and trying to deal with your family’s expectations, while trying to follow your own dreams.
The narration in this book is so charming, and the imagery used to describe all the foods and clothing and music throughout the story is INCREDIBLE (I really want some pistachio baklava now). I really enjoyed feeling like you were there, experiencing all this stuff along with the characters.
The representation of diaspora Indians in the book was so nice, and something that is seriously underrepresented in most other books. One of the main characters is Indo-Trinidadian, and another is South African-Indian, and this was really nice to see. Additionally, the discussions of colorism were so important to have, and I’m so glad they were included.
If you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted romcom, I’d totally recommend checking this book out when it’s released on April 22, 2022.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair review!
