The Hex Girls: A Rogue Thorn by Lily Meade is a direct sequel to the movie Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost with a catch. "What's the catch?" you might be asking. The catch is its set during the modern day and they de-aged everyone within the story from roughly mid twenties to teenagers. That's actually what my biggest gripe with the book is that everyone is younger than their movie counterpart, so it doesn't make sense.

The book picks up soon after the events of the Witch's Ghost, it has the Hex Girls moving away from Oakhaven to Coolsville. And they stumble upon a mystery that only the Scooby Gang and the Hex Girls can solve.

There were things I enjoyed about this book that kept me going. The mystery felt like a fun episode of Scooby-Doo, just with Thorn being the main character through out the whole book. And Scooby doesn't talk beyond barking. Overall because of the de-aging of the characters for me kept story from reaching its full potential. So this book gets a 3.5 out 5 Scooby Snacks. Scooby Dooby Dooooo!
