Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle, Elle Madison
4.0
"Death was a hefty price to pay for vodka."
Most people say, "don't judge a book by its cover." Which I believe applies most of the time. But I am the type of person who does judge a book by its cover, literally. The first thing about a book that catches my eye would be the title and cover, and then the summary is what seals the deal.
Scarlet Princess is a story in the Lochlann Realm and takes place after The Lochlann Treaty. Although, you don't have to read it before reading Scarlet Princess.
Going into Scarlet Princess blindly because I forgot what it was about when I began reading was the best decision I made. Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes to read. I loved Rowan and Theo's dynamic. I tend not to read a lot of historical fiction because of how females are portrayed. But Rowan is not your typical historical romance female character. She would fit right in today in the 21st century. She's funny, strong-willed, independent, and rebellious. There were hilarious one-liners throughout that made me laugh out loud.
Cliffhangers are a hit or miss for me. However, Robin and Elle made it work out perfectly by making Scarlet Princess come full circle. I can't wait to delve into the Lochlann Realm with The Lochlann Treaty soon or Tarnished Crown when it comes out.
