I first read Kensuke's Kingdom in year five in primary school. I can remember loving it and constantly being ahead of the class when we had to read it out loud. Re-reading it as an adult, I can see why it was a success with school children. The story is short and sweet and emotional. I wanted Kensuke to reunite with his family and the PS at the end about michael meeting his son made me tear up both as a ten year old and a twenty one year old.
