The Improbability of Love by Hannah Rothschild
I am sad to say I can’t give a rating to something I haven’t been able to finish and sadly this book is one of them. I do love books that involve a long list painting, romance and historical information and of course paintings that have feelings, but this doesn’t really work as it all feels forced and cobbled together, theirs too much of everything going on and a lot of characters that just meander around like lost souls. I found there is only really a basic plot which has been fudged over again and again till it’s barely there. What I sort of liked about it and wished there was more of was the painting itself, but it gets lost amongst a rather weird and bizarre love story which doesn’t really have a point to it. I didn’t like any of the characters nor did I feel any empathy for any, it all felt a bit bland and sadly disappointing.
